Just close your eyes right now and try to imagine that the whole Earth is rotating around the Sun. Now, try to observe the pattern of Day & Night. You will understand how our measurable time works. As our Earth rotates around the Sun, there are days & nights, right? In the influence of this rotation, our measurable time exists.
Because how do we define our time? We define time as a dimension that measures a change either in distance or situation or maybe something else. But in simple words, the measurement of difference in anything is measured in time.
I know you are naughty enough to question, “No, we measure the temperature in Kelvin!, how can you say that we measure the difference of anything in time?”
I knew that!
Now try to understand that the temperature you measured was in Kelvin. But the act of measurement was done in time’s dimension. Now I hope you could have got my point of view. So, our time of experience only exists because of the experience of Day & Night. Once you are able to understand this fact, you can focus your mind & consciousness on one object of meditation. By doing so, time will stop for you. How?
When you focus only on one object for a longer period, your perception of experiencing will experience “no time”. As I have already told you above, our experience of time only exists because we have been experiencing day & night due to the rotation of Earth around the Sun. Your one-pointed focus on the object of meditation will bring the right knowledge of the existence of time. And you will realize that time is just an illusion of the material world. What we fear is not at all worth fearing. Because there is nothing worth fearing. Fear is an illusion. Because fear exists in the results of (imaginary) future situations. Which does not exist right now. And if something does not exist at all, why fear? And even if it is going to be real, you just have only one option i.e. to face it. So, instead of fearing the imaginary future, you will need to focus on the possibilities of solutions without fear & without expectations. Why without expectation? Because, even after facing that situation, that will no longer exist.
And if something is not going to exist permanently, why expect it?
Therefore when you focus on the object of meditation, the perception of experiencing time will not be there. And that is how time will not be there for your experience. Or it can be said that your experience of that particular phase will be beyond time (even under the influence of time!). – that we call “Entering into Samadhi”.
Who lives in the present moment? And how to understand it?
God (supreme consciousness) lives in the present moment.
How?
So, what you call the “past” has already gone and it is now existing as “memory”. The future does not exist yet. Only exists present. Also, the creation (our daily lives, our time, our sense of experience -- everything happens in the present. But we do not live in the present moment).
We only live either in the past (memories) or the future (imagination). Past memories bring regrets and the future's imagination brings expectations & anxieties.
And, to be honest, both will hurt you the most. If you only become aware of your present moment every time, expectations and regrets will never hurt you. And, becoming aware of the present moment also means you are becoming an observer of the present moment.
Now, who has the right knowledge?
Observer!
That means, when you become aware of your every present moment, you become an observer, and when you become an observer, you can have the right judgment and knowledge of the situation.
Right now, you are reading these words and trying to understand the meaning of each of the words, right? Only then it is possible for you to exactly understand the meaning. Otherwise, it would be just a newspaper reading!
Now you may have a question: “If time will stop for me, will I be immortal?!!!”
Yes, in fact, you are immortal. You just don’t know this fact.
You consider yourself as a physical body, that’s why you fear death. Death happens to the body, not yours. Therefore, I have been telling you to work on knowing yourself instead of only making money. Once you get to know about yourself, Vairagya will automatically be there. Also, you will take responsibility for your duties with righteousness. But the most important thing is that you must try to know who you are.
