Mystery of Time - A theoretical approach to solving the problem of physics based on the mental experience of understanding the nature of time.
Disclaimer: This is a simple article that represents my personal views about "time" based on my experience of it in different states of consciousness (Waking, Dreaming, Sleeping & Imagination state). This blog post can help understand the nature of time for physicists. This also answers several questions like:
- How do exactly we experience different times on different planets?
- Why Brahma's one day is equal to 4.32 billion human years?
- What is time & how does it work?
- If the time is linear, how do we experience differently in different situations?
And so on!
So, let's start now:
See the below image, where the center O represents someone controlling the circular motion of a system placed on an imaginary line OC. Suppose the rotational speed of the line OC is 1 Rotation per minute (here the minute is the unit of time measurement perceived by controller O).
Hence the speed of line OC is 1 RPM.
The system you see above in the image is nothing but a fan moving its wing in our daily observation. Now, here comes the physics and philosophy together that answers the majority of questions regarding time.
What is time?
Time is the change in the movement of any object. For example, if something is steady, there will be no time applicable for it as long as there is no relative reference to measure the change. Now consider two imaginary points on the line OC and name them A and B.
Now, we will consider O as the starting reference point and C as the ending reference point from the line OC. The entire line OC is an imaginary system that, as a whole, experiences 1 RPM of speed for its change in the space relative to the starting reference O.
Now, if we consider points A & B as individually existing points, they both will experience different speeds, wondered?!!.
Let me explain:
See the length of Arc AA’ is less than the length of Arc BB’, right?
That means, for point A, the time required to reach point A’ is less than that for B which requires more time to reach point B’. (However, both reach at the same speed!!!)
But we will consider them individually, and therefore,
in mathematical representation,
Ta < Tb which is because of Da < Db
For example, the length of line OC is 10m, line OA is 3m and, line OB is 7m
Now, Speed V = D/T
Therefore,
Va = 3/1 = 3 m/min
Vb = 7/1 = 7 m/min
Here, our reference time was according to point O, hence we see the difference between times experienced by points A & B. However, if you take the time of A as a reference, still you will find different times for Point B & vice versa. (“This difference” forces you to believe them as a system and not individually existing entities even though we consider them individually!)
This difference in time makes us think that there might be some parameters that can affect the time. But when you see it from another perspective, there is no time!
Time is there only because the system is in motion. If there is no motion, there will be no time.
Let me explain one more concept:
Here in the above image, I am traveling to Planet A from Earth by a rocket with the speed of light!
Now comes the interesting part, so focus on it!
Suppose passing one Earth hour on planet A is equal to 1 year of Earth.
That means, if I live on planet A and my measurement of time is according to the time of Earth and if I spend just one hour on Planet A, the Earth would have passed one year.
But how is it even possible?
To answer this question, scientists have been researching many of the theories that can explore the fundamental principles of forces and energy.
However, none of them satisfies the “Why” of the question!
Now, let’s try to understand it using a simple example of a fan!
Two different points of the fan’s wing will experience the same time of rotation if they are considered part of the wing and seen as a whole system.
But if we consider those two different points as separate entities and try to experience time from the perspectives of both individually, we will experience time differently.
It is therefore if I move from the Earth to planet A (in the second image) by the rocket, I will experience a time difference because both the planets are moving as a part of an unknown system of which center we do not know.
Also, this explanation proves that there is no such thing as a time without motion!
For example, if I go into deep sleep, I will experience no time there, why? Because time is a way of representing a change in the movement of something relative to the motion of the planet. We consider one day only because the earth completes one rotation in that particular time frame. If there was no rotation on Earth or the solar system, there would be no Earth time for us, there would be only universal time.
What is universal time?
Universal time is the time that measures the change in the movement or space of all the planets, objects, and galaxies considering them as not individual parts but as a whole system even after they all exist individually. That means there is one controller who controls the entire universe and gives motion to everything that exists in the universe by making himself the center of the circle.
If you do not understand the above definition, I will simplify it for you:
In the first image, the center O is the controller of the circle. The circle itself is our experienced or perceived universe. Points A and B are simply any two galaxies, any two planets, or any two objects placed on the unified imaginary system that rotates at the same speed (as a whole system).
Now let’s explore the greatest wonderful question:
How did yogis live longer?
Our experience of life is based on our extreme faith. Our strongest belief in ourselves as a human body is the root reason that we experience life based on the time experienced by earthly objects!
My intellect, mind, and ego have believed that my human body is myself. And that is why, each of the cells of my body experiences the time of earth. If all these three faculties of consciousness are deeply made steady in something, the body will not experience the time as usual. However, it does not mean that it will change the time of perception, the time of perception for yourself depends on your own experience of it. But the earth will complete its one day in 24 hours because it (earth) is part of a system (i.e. Solar System - which itself is a part of another system and so on)!
Try to understand the difference.
Yogis lived longer because they controlled their consciousness and made it steady to the object of meditation (it could be anything!). If you meditate on the word “AUM” consistently, there will be a time when your consciousness will fully become the word “AUM”. There will be no difference between the experiencer (Seer) and the experience (Sight). Yoga says that each of our bodily cells is conscious. Therefore, they experience the time of the earth. If you (by using your willpower) direct your awareness to the object of meditation, it will be called “Pratyahara” (Pratyahara is the withdrawal of sense experiences), and by Pratyahara, the bodily consciousness will become weaker and weaker (because the consciousness is concentrated somewhere else) which will slow the effect of earth time on the body. That is why yogi lives longer.
It is therefore when I go to planet A by rocket, my body will only experience the time of my journey whereas people on Earth will experience the time of Earth because their consciousness is experiencing the movement of Earth. This explanation satisfies the answer to this question: “Why if I stay one hour on Planet A is equal to 1 year of change on the Earth?”
By stating that, we can predict that in the Brahma Loka, the time is passing in the same time as it passes on Earth but for Earth, it would be billions of years would have passed and for the Brahma Loka, it would be just one day!
So, the time of Brahma and the time of humans pass at the same time but are perceived differently because of their location in the space on that unified imaginary system of which the center is unknown.
So, there is nothing like “future or past”, there is only “eternal present”. If I say “tomorrow in the morning”, that statement will become “Now” in the actual tomorrow morning! Hence, all the future and pasts are the creation of our minds. We only experience time as the present moment. If we can control our consciousness, we can read the past (by remembering memories as realistically as if it is happening now) but we cannot move physically in the past moment because the past does not exist as physical experience.
